My friend and I were here last weekend, and we paid 225 euros per night (!) which we had booked months ago. We thought it would be cheaper then, but it wasn’t. For that money, we expected a luxury hotel, but it was far from that! The following about this: the location was in a moderate neighborhood with a lot of traffic rushing by at night and trash on the street from open garbage containers. the room was okay but nothing special for that money. Because the windows were not double-glazed, you heard a lot of noise from the street. the shower was okay but small and gave off a musty smell after showering there was no automatic cleaning, and there was no sign to indicate whether you wanted cleaning or not at check-out, the person behind the reception desk was totally uninterested in us. Not a single question about how we had been or anything. it was also all a bit of faded glory in terms of ambiance. All in all, 225 euros per night is much too high a price. It would be more in line with 70 euros per night. So never go there!" It seems like you had a disappointing experience, and your feedback highlights the importance of expectations versus reality when it comes to accommodations.

Great personal service. Met a lovely Belfast girl in reception who accommodated me with an early check-in as I'd traveled very early in the morning and arrived at 8:30 . Very appreciative of her help. Also location excellent. Loved the set up of different houses within 1 hotel. Would recommend to a friend. Only negative no lemon or lime to go in your G&T at the bar on 2 days running!

Our room was located in the main building, where the bar is also located. The room was moldy, dusty and damp. We also spotted 2 woodlice in the room. The shower did not drain at all. The first night we couldn´t sleep because of the noise from the bar; so if you value your sleep: do not go! The mornings we woke up early because of the staff marching past the room. Most of the staff is friendly, but they do not help at all with the lugage (2 flights of stairs), so if you are traveling alone and are not that handy/strong: I do not recommend booking this place to stay in. Breakfast was okay, but there are too little spaces.

We had a lovely few days in Edinburgh and it was complimented by a stay at the Haymarket Hotel. The location was fab for our party. The Haymarket is situated a 2 minute walk from the Haymarket station so we could check in as soon as we got off the train. The Haymarket tram stop is just over the road from the hotel too, so it's really easy to explore the city. The reception area was inviting and the bar and breakfast room was beautifully decorated. The staff member that greeted us was really friendly, gave us a map, took us to our room and asked if we needed any help with our bags. We were really pleased with our room. The room was spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. It had a boutique feel and we loved the old features of the townhouse. The one thing that was an issue for us during our stay was the shower. It had very little power and didn't get very warm. We used the sink for our short stay which was a little awkward but we managed. We did speak to a staff member about this issue. We were offered a change of rooms but we were leaving the next day so declined. Breakfast was included during our stay. We had both continental and a full Scottish breakfast. We really enjoyed breakfast and it was great to be able to try some haggis and tattie scones. The only thing I would say is that the teapot could do with a few more teabags. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely want to go back. Just needs a tweak of the shower 🚿 😉 Thank-you Haymarket Hotel x

Lovely stay at the Haymarket Hotel for a recent trip to Edinburgh for the theatre. We stayed one night, midweek, in a family room for myself, my mum and my daughter. The room was big, bright and airy with three single beds, a dressing table area, seating and a large bathroom. The room was clean and nicely finished, as were the reception areas of the hotel. Just along the road is Haymarket train station as well as tram and bus stops. We parked at Hermiston Park and Ride and easily got a 25 bus to Haymarket. Travel to and from the Playhouse was by tram but this is also a mile or so away for anyone happy to walk. The morning after our stay we chose to have breakfast in the hotel. We hadn’t pre-booked and were advised just to turn up if we wanted to eat. We arrived for breakfast after 8 and it was quite busy but we only had to wait a few mins to be seated. Breakfast choice was continental buffet or a hot menu made to order. We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again.
